Fluid bronze

stereo - 01.00 - 2021

Program notes - eng

“Fluid bronze” is composed exclusively of sounds produced by gongs of different sizes and played in an unconventional way. Starting from the hard material, the intention has been to create a soft, enveloping and floating mass in which to get lost and warm up. The hardness that produces its opposite.

Contracted chest

Contracted chest

stereo - 04.33 - 2020

Program notes - eng

The radio was the invention that contracted the chest to the world. Noise is its foundation.

"Contracted chest" is constructed entirely from manipulated noise and concrete sounds. The composition is a short narration of some moments of a day seen by an external observer: the listener, the voyeur who sees everything and hears everything. But vision and listening can never be clear, the veil of noise dominates impassive in its movement and presence.

Eclipse in the Great Mother. A slow and soft slip into the universal mother's womb. Heat and mystery. The return to the origin, to the archetypal force of the earth. Polvere nera

stereo - 5.47 - 2018

Program notes - eng

The totality of the acoustic material.
Excavated, mutilated. Sublimated and deposited. The One that is fragmented and reduced to dust. Chalk blocks engraved and carved through the space and elasticity of time. Polvere nera is divided into four sections, bounded by sudden stops and static poses, in which there is an incessant dialogue between two opposing formal poles: bands and points. In the end the dialogue becomes union through a process of massification of the material that does not however cancel the intrinsic differences of the models employed. Polvere nera was constructed using noise, synthesis sounds and percussive sounds.

Program notes - ita

La totalità della materia acustica.
Scavata, mutilata. Sublimata e deposta.

Sequences. A short journey in space. Visions of planets told by concrete sounds of their alleged daily life. Wide rooms and curved horizons. The sidereal emptiness that dominates every place. It is a small psychic and intangible path that turns to the elsewhere of unknown natures. The cold and heat that lead to industrial elements built from gray metals. A tension towards the symbolic abstraction of a possible journey of the human spirit.

stereo - 8.03 - 2017

Program notes - eng

BANLIEUE CUIVRÉE. Suburb brass. Crumbled concrete. The matter fragmentation, its chaos and energy, counterpoised to its implacable, pure and monolithic immobility. The cement shifted through the metal and the leather. The expression "banlieue cuivrée" comes from the will to represent the life of a cement magma with its morphed and dynamics fluctuations, its slackening and but also with its static poses sublimated in the urban architectonic context. Hence concrete. A specific matter. A "fact" surrounding our daily space. A rigid corporeality but that comes in liquid form. Concrete. Suburb. Banlieue. The colour grey. The composition has been built using exclusively concrete samples of metallophones and membranophones instruments. Brass is the dominant metal colour in the musical context, hence the second French term cuivrée. To this light a copper mass, alternating its breath in different ontological sound statuses, is the resulting terminological syntaxes.

Program notes - ita

Banlieue cuivrée. Periferia ottone. Cemento sgretolato.

Bodega bay

Bodega bay

stereo - 11.50 - 2016

Program notes - eng

"Bodega Bay" is inspired by the film of Alfred Hitchcock "Birds" of 1963.

The composition is a sound narration of a journey across the bay where much of the film is set.

This journey is to be understood as a psychic, intangible path, an involuntary path of the mind that can determine a dangerous drift. No mimetic representation then. No material simulation. But a tension towards the symbolic abstraction of a possible journey of the human spirit.

The wayfarer, closed in his subjectivity, runs through this chimerical and magmatic space without any purpose, enveloped in a hostile and unpredictable nature up to the freedom intended both as an end and as overcoming and resolving.

The composition is divided into four parts:

Part 1 [0:00 to 3:52] arrival at bay
Part 2 [3:52 to 6:19] start of the journey
Part 3 [6:19 to 9:56] across the bay
Part 4 [9:56 to 11:50] freedom

Ropes Water and Blocks

Ropes Water And Blocks

stereo - 3.12 - 2014

Program notes - eng

The slow dripping of water grains.

Pulverised ropes gasping.

The slow dragging of resonances.

One is entering a deformed space oscillating between concrete docks and frothy waters.

A mind port. A transit area. The dimension where opposite meet.

The farewell and forsake. The docking and the discovery.

A short trip beyond the point of no return.

Blocks #1

Blocks #1

stereo - 3.06 - 2014

Program notes - eng

Blocks.

Blocks like bulks.

Block like sound clusters moving in the empty space and turning into stones thrown into the void.

But block are also conglomerates, aggregation, union of sounds that embrace ad destroy one another until they dissipate and hurt themselves.

A messy dance rising from the silence and violently lashing down the casts, until fading out.

Slowly and inexorably.

Program notes - ita

Blocchi.
Blocchi come masse.
Lenta e inesorabile.
